IMPORTANT MAIN STREET UPDATE
The PennDOT street improvement project is set to begin on the night of Sunday, May 12. This current phase involves enhancements to the storm water system and will be conducted overnight. The work necessitates relocating certain drinking water and sanitary sewer infrastructures.
Regrettably, this may lead to interruptions in water service. The Borough and Municipal Authority are collaborating closely with PennDOT and their contractors to reduce these disruptions. Interruptions are anticipated to occur during the night.
According to DEP regulations, interruptions in water service generally necessitate boil water advisories. Presently, the exact areas affected are unknown. More precise information will emerge as the work advances in the early part of the following week. Water customers will receive timely notifications regarding any boil advisories.
The initial phase of work will take place near North Main Street and Elmira Street. Drivers are urged to proceed with extra caution in any construction zones.
Should you encounter discolored water while the work is underway, please let the water run for a few minutes to check if it clears. If the discoloration persists, contact our office at 570-662-2315.
